2. There are two competitions within the Golden Whisk Awards:
Part 1: The official competition - to win the title of Woolworths Australian Good Taste Home Cook of the Year 2010. Judging for this competition begins after the closing date for entries at the offices of Woolworths Australian Good Taste magazine. Judges will assess all entries and select 12 semi-finalists with recipes deemed to rate highest for being easy, tasty, quick, economical and family friendly. In selecting the 12 semi-finalists, judges will award points for recipes that may improve the dinnertime experience for other families. The 12 semi-finalists will be announced on a weekly basis, from after the closing date for entries. The 12 semi-finalists will be referred to as “weekly winners” and will each receive a $200 Woolworths Gift Card. From the 12 semi-finalists, the judges will select 6 finalists. These 6 finalists will be selected, at recipe taste-testing days, for entering recipes deemed by judges to be in the top 6 of the 12 finalist recipes on the basis of the judging criteria already stated. The 6 finalists will be announced in the November 2010 issue of Woolworths Australian Good Taste magazine. They will attend the National Cook-Off where each finalist will create the recipe, exactly as submitted to the competition, for tasting and analysis by the judges. Judges will award the title of Home Cook of the Year 2010 to the finalist with the cooked and plated recipe, which judges score highest on the National Cook-Off day based on the criteria already stated, as well as appearance. The kitchen skills of each entrant will also be assessed as part of the judging process. The 5 finalists not named as the winner at the National Cook-Off will be named as the runners-up. The prize for the winner at the National Cook-Off is $10,000 cash in the form of a cheque plus a Cuisinart prize pack valued at $2500. The prize for the 5 runners-up is a Cuisinart prize pack valued at $2500. The winner and the 5 runners-up will be announced in the December 2010 of Woolworths Australian Good Taste magazine.
Part 2:   The Golden Whisk People’s Choice Awards. This competition begins after entries close for the official competition. Two prizes will be awarded as part of the People’s Choice Awards. The minor prize – referred to as the “recipe prize” - will be awarded to the weekly winner who received the highest average rating for their recipe, as rated online by the public. The recipe prize is a $500 Woolworths Gift Card. The major prize – referred to as the “voter prize” - will be the awarded to the voter in the People’s Choice Awards who is deemed by the judges as offering the most insightful comment on a recipe in their voting entry.
