Coles + Taste Daily – $1,000 Grocery Competition
Terms & Conditions

1. The Promoters are News Limited (ABN 47 007 871 178) of 2 Holt Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010 and Coles (ABN 11 004 089 936) of 800 Toorak Road, Tooronga, VIC, 3146
2. Instructions on how to enter and the prizes form part of the conditions of entry.  The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
3. Entry is open to all residents of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Employees and their immediate families of the Promoters, directors, management, related companies, retailers, suppliers and their agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible.
4. Entrants under the age of 18 years must obtain the prior permission of a parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter.
5. There will be a Daily Codeword printed in Taste Daily each day from Monday 8 March, 2010 to Friday 12 March, 2010. To enter each daily draw readers of The Courier-Mail, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Advertiser, The Mercury and NT News must send an SMS message in the following format “Daily Codeword, Name, Address, State” to 197 14 714.
6. Entries will be divided up per state. Entries without the correct state information will be deemed an incomplete entry and will be discarded. Each entry will be entered into the draw for their nominated state only.
7. SMS cost a maximum of 55c including GST; Entry by SMS is only open to entrants with an SMS compatible mobile phone connected to a service provider which permits premium text messaging to the promotional SMS number.  It is recommended that entrants check with their individual service provider in this regard. 8. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry, which is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The Promoter does not accept any responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries for this promotion. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by the Service Provider and not at the time of transmission by the entrant. 
9. Multiple entries will be accepted provided that each entry is submitted separately in accordance with the entry instructions.
10. The competition opens at 12:01 (AEDST) on Monday 8 March, 2010 and closes at 23:59 (AEDST) on Friday 12 March, 2010. All draws will take place at Salmat Interactive, Level 17, Innovation Place, 100 Arthur Street, North Sydney NSW 2060 on Monday 15 March, 2010 at 10:00 (AEDST).
11. There will be five (5) draws each consisting of six (6) major prize winners including one (1) winner from Queensland, one (1) winner from New South Wales, one (1) winner from Victoria, one (1) winner from South Australia, one (1) winner from Tasmania and one (1) winner from the Northern Territory. There are a total of thirty (30) major prizes. Each winner will receive a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.1. The first draw will be conducted for entries with the correct Daily Codeword received between 12:01 (AEDST) on Monday 8 March, 2010 and 23:59 (AEDST) on Monday 8 March, 2010. The major prize winner from each of the six participating states will win a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.2. The second draw will be conducted for entries with the correct Daily Codeword received between 12:01 (AEDST) on Tuesday 9 March, 2010 and 23:59 (AEDST) on Tuesday 9 March, 2010. The major prize winner from each of the six participating states will win a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.3. The third draw will be conducted for entries with the correct Daily Codeword received between 12:01 (AEDST) on Wednesday 10 March, 2010 and 23:59 (AEDST) on Wednesday 10 March, 2010. The major prize winner from each of the six participating states will win a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.4. The fourth draw will be conducted for entries with the correct Daily Codeword received between 12:01 (AEDST) on Thursday 11 March, 2010 and 23:59 (AEDST) on Thursday 11 March, 2010. The major prize winner from each of the six participating states will win a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.5. The fifth draw will be conducted for entries with the correct Daily Codeword between 12:01 (AEDST) on Friday 12 March, 2010 and 23:59 (AEDST) on Friday 12 March, 2010. The major prize winner from each of the six participating states will win a $1,000 Coles Gift Card.
11.6. The total prize pool is valued at $30,000.
12. The prize will be awarded to the winner’s parent or legal guardian should a winner be under the age of 18.
13. By redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, you accept and agree to be bound by the Gift Cards Terms of Use (available at http://www.giftcards.com.au/termsofuse/); and acknowledge that you have read and understood Coles’ Privacy and Security Notice (available by calling 1300 725 159 or from www.giftcards.com.au/privacy.asp).
14. Coles Gift Cards are redeemable at BI-LO supermarkets, Coles supermarkets, Coles Central and Pick’n’Pay Hypermarkets.
15. Coles Gift Cards can not be used for all:
15.1.  Coles express purchases
15.2.  online purchases,
15.3.  purchases initiated by phone, email, post or fax,
15.4.  bill payments, including Service ATM, DEFT, credit card accounts, store accounts and Rentsmart
15.5. self-checkouts.
16. Major prize winners will be notified by telephone within five (5) days of the draw and published in The Australian on Wednesday 24 March, 2010.
17. The prizes are strictly as stated above. The prizes are not transferable, exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the winners.
18. NO LIABILITY
18.1. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Neither is the Promoter responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the entrant or any of the equipment or programming associated with, or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition, including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries.
18.2. If for any reason, this competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition subject to any written directions given under State Legislation.
18.3. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury, loss or damage (including loss or opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including but not limited to, where arising out of the following:
a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these conditions of entry;
e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant;
f) the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person; and/or
g) participation in the prize
18.4. Once prizes have left the Promoter premises, the Promoter and their associated agencies take no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit.
18.5. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

19.1. Nationwide News, as the Promoter of this competition, collects your personal information to assist us in providing the goods or services you have requested, to process your competition entries and to improve our products and services. We or any of our Australian related companies may be in touch by any means (including email or SMS) at any time to let you know about goods, services or promotions which may be of interest to you. We may also share your information with other persons or entities who assist us in providing our services, running competitions (including administering the competition or distributing prizes) or with other companies who provide prizes for competitions or reader offers. We may also disclose your personal information in accordance with these terms and conditions if you are a prize winner or finalist.
19.2. This company is part of a global media and entertainment company. We would like to share your information with these overseas-related companies so that they can contact you with special offers.
